meet the chef + hunter

Fueled by nature and adventure, Karla Miller has always let her passion for the outdoors and storytelling guide her. Having been around hunting her entire life, she became a bowhunter a decade ago. Throughout this journey, her passion to understand and be connected to her food grew as the mountains became her home each fall in pursuit of filling the freezer.  A filmmaker and photographer by trade, she has spent years traveling the world filming and photographing hunts for television.  From wild pheasants in Kansas and perdiz in Uruguay, to hippo and lion in Africa and chamois in New Zealand, she has a love and passion for animals, storytelling, and conservation that only continues to intensify.  Storytellers focus on the things they never want to lose and that is abundantly true for Karla. Capturing and sharing stories of the harvest and conservation has always been her central focus.  Her storytelling through film making and photography have received multiple awards and recognition, including a Golden Moose and Westy Award and Emmy Nomination, and has been featured across multiple networks such as Outdoor Channel, Sportsman's Channel, Fox Sports and Food Network.  Numerous magazines such as Outdoor Life and Recoil Carnivore Magazine have featured her work as well. Her love of food has been lifelong, and the passion to cook evolved with time.  Curating dishes and creating food art is another creative outlet that opened many doors for her, including being a cook for multiple hunting, fly fishing, and adventure outfitters.  Most of her fall is spent preparing cuisines in hunting camp with her mom and two young sons, hunting with her husband who has been a hunting guide for nearly twenty years, and capturing hunting stories for others to further conservation.
